MOU FOR HYDROLOGICAL DATA SHARING:

The project objective can only be said to be achieved when there is a smooth flow of data between various data producers/user agencies and reliable data is easily available for the end user.
A meeting was convened on 19-06-09 at Shimla under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, GoHP for improved coordination and optimization of sustainable hydropower development in the Satluj Basin amongst Power Developers and other relevant agencies. It was appraised in the meeting that H.P. Hydrology Project Cell had prepared a draft MoU for sharing of hydrological data in consultation with various stakeholder departments and agencies which was finalized after vetting by the law deptt. It was decided in the meeting that power developers shall sign MoU with HP,IPH Deptt. for sharing of hydrological data with Hydrological Project – II, Himachal Pradesh. Accordingly a MoU was signed at Shimla on 30-6-2009 by Principal Secretary (IPH) with officers/representatives of the following organizations:

1. SJVNL
2. NTPC
3. HPSEB
4. HPPCL
5. Yangthang Power Ventures Limited
6. BBMB

Subsequently, MoU was also signed with the following organizations:

1. JP Hydropower Ltd.
2. JP Karcham Hydro Corporation Ltd.
3. Himachal Sorang Power Pvt. Ltd.

Regular correspondence was made with NHPC for signing the MoU and it is likely that the same shall be signed at an early date.
The MoU shall pave way for smooth flow of data between these agencies and H.P. Hydrology Project. The MoU shall also be signed with other stakeholders. Some data has been exchanged with BBMB and other agencies have been reminded to supply the available data. SJVNL has recently sent some data for 1 SW station. H.P Forest Deptt. has also send data of 1 silt observation station.
